AROMAS: It opens with an aroma of earthiness enhanced by brooding dark jammy fruit. This is soon followed by smokey scents of mesquite. After airing it finishes with dried fruit notes and hints of perfume. FLAVORS: This is an earthy wine, European in style that is full bodied yet supple on the palate with a velvety finish. The wine opens with the flavors of leather and game against a smokey oak backdrop followed by cedar notes and dark, dark fruit, which combine to form a long mid palate and lingering finish. While it is at home with Haute cuisine it will improve any Santa Maria style cookout and continue to age for over a decade.
While our central coast Syrahs are designed to blend flavors from warm AVA’s with those from cooler climate regions, the ‘Winner’s Circle’ Flavor Profile Syrahs are designed to show what proper vineyard selection, wine making techniques, and artful blending can do to influence syrah and create distinctive flavor profiles. The most “OLD WORLD” in style of all of the flavor profile wines, earthy, full bodied and grand.
